International Power Provides Update on Rugeley Plant Outage

(London – 14 August 2008) International Power reports that the second 500MW unit at its Rugeley Power station in the UK suffered a trip earlier today during recommisioning from its major maintenance overhaul and is currently offline. The technical cause of this outage is currently being investigated. A further update on the specific cause and potential financial impact will be made in due course.

International Power had reported in its interim results on 7 August 2008 that the other (500MW) unit at Rugeley is undergoing an extended outage and is expected to be offline until the end of the third quarter.
