Interim Results for the Six Months Ended 30 September, 2000

(London – 7 December, 2000) International Power plc, one of the world’s largest independent power producers, today announces interim results for the six-month period ending 30 September, 2000, and also reports on key accomplishments during our first two months since demerger.

“Our interim results are solid, the businesses in our core markets of the US, Europe and Australia are performing well, and our global growth program is moving ahead,” said Sir Neville Simms, the company’s Chairman. “We are addressing the future of the non-core assets in our portfolio as indicated by our decision to exit China and progress in reaching a satisfactory outcome in Pakistan,” he added.
