International Power hosted an analyst conference in Melbourne, Australia on the 9-10 April 2008.
Australia is one of our three major merchant markets and Asia is a core long-term contracted market. In aggregate these two regional markets contributed just under 20% of our profit from operations in the year ended 31 December 2007.

Vince Harris OBE – Regional Managing Director, Asia
Vince is the Head of our Asia region and was previously head of one of the UK’s first cogeneration businesses prior to becoming country manager for China based in Beijing, followed by CEO of HUBCO in Pakistan. Vince is a chartered engineer with 39 years experience in the power generation industry, all with International Power and its predecessors.
In 2007 Vince received an OBE from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth for his work in Pakistan aimed at improving the business and trading environment with the United Kingdom.

Robert Apsley – Station Manager Hub, Pakistan
An engineer with 24 years experience in the power generation industry, Robert is responsible for the operations and maintenance at Hub Power Station in Baluchistan. He was previously General Manager at Ballylumford Power Station in Northern Ireland, before becoming Operations Director for Premier Power, the largest IPP in Ireland.
In 2007 Robert was awarded the Iraq Reconstruction Service Medal for his work on Iraq’s electricity system in 2003 Robert Apsley to 2005.

Gary Elsworth – General Manager, IPM Operations and Maintenance, Paiton
Gary is responsible for delivering the operations and maintenance performance at Paiton Power Plant in Indonesia. He has previously worked in operations and engineering roles in UK as well as working extensively providing technical and operational input to development and acquisition projects in most of our business regions, most recently supporting Asia development activities from his base in Indonesia.

Tom Mackay – Head Business Development Asia
Tom is responsible for delivering the new development opportunities in Asia with a focused development team based in Singapore. He has previously worked in the Middle East Region for the last 10 years developing greenfield opportunities in Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and brings a wealth of development and EPC experience to the Asia region.
Tom was previously country manager in Pakistan in the early 1990’s and was part of the development team for both the HUBCO and KAPCO assets.

Kian Min Low – Deputy Regional Director, Asia
Kian Min joined International Power in 1998 as counsel for the South East Asian region. In 2001, he was transferred to the Australian operations of the company as its general counsel before being appointed as the Head of Business Development, Australia.
In 2005, he was appointed to his current role, based in Singapore. While with the Company, he has been actively involved in projects in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Australia.
