Policy & Implementation

Use of Company Resources

  1. Use of International Power (IPR) Assets IPR’s assets and other resources are for use in IPR’s business only. IPR has many valuable resources in the form of tangible assets such as materials, property, plant and equipment. Intangible assets such as computer systems and other forms of intellectual property also exist. IPR Personnel and IPR Contractors are given access to these in confidence and trust and they should be used only for the advancement of IPR’s business. Unauthorised use of company assets for unlawful purposes or for personal gain, including disclosure or misuse of electronic data, is forbidden.
  2. Electronic Media
    1. IPR Personnel are required to observe the IPR IT Code of Conduct which is contained in the IT Security Guidelines.
    2. Electronic media and services should be used primarily for company business use. Occasional or incidental use of electronic media (sending or receiving) for personal, non-business purposes is acceptable – as is the case with personal phone calls. However, employees need to exercise good judgement. Electronic media may not be used for knowingly transmitting, retrieving or storage of any communications that are 1) of a discriminatory or harassing nature, 2) derogatory to any individual or group, 3) obscene or X-rated communications, 4) of a defamatory or threatening nature, 5) are “chain letters” or 6) for any other purpose that is illegal, against IPR policy or contrary in any way to IPR’s interest.
    3. Electronic media and services may not be used in violation of any copyright laws.
    4. IPR reserves the right, in its discretion, to review any employee’s electronic files, messages and usage to the extent necessary to ensure that the electronic media and services are being used in compliance with the law and with this and other IPR policies.
  3. Expenses
    1. The general guiding rule is “spend money as if it's your own”. IPR Personnel are expected to follow this without a company set of rules, however, each region will issue its own set of policies to give further guidance on this issue. In general it is important that expense claims are completed regularly and legibly, that each item is clearly cross referenced to a receipt/invoice, that the currency and any currency conversion rate is clearly set out. It is the responsibility of the individual making the claim and the manager authorising it that these guidelines are properly followed.
  4. Travel Policy
    1. The same guiding rule applies for travel as it does for expenses. A copy of the IPR Travel Policy is available on the Company’s intranet.
